The Colle di Sampeyre links the Varaita and Maira valleys in the Cottian Alps of the Province of Cuneo, Piedmont. The most-ridden ascent climbs the south side directly out of Sampeyre village on the SP335, running through forest and then alpine meadow to the 2284 m pass. The road is paved the whole way but narrow, with a coarse and broken surface in places, and it has no real flat sections to recover on. The pass featured in the Giro d'Italia in 1995 and 2003.
