Pian del Re, at the foot of Monviso's north face and the source of the river Po, is the dead-end head of the Valle Po above Crissolo. The Giro d'Italia finished here in 1991 (Lelli) and 1992 (Giovannetti). A long Hors Catégorie grind of ~19 km from Paesana, opening onto raw high-mountain scenery below the 'King Stone' of the Cottian Alps.
