Col d'Izoard is a mountain pass in the Hautes-Alpes department of the French Alps, on the paved D902 road, open only in the summer months. Its southern approach passes through the Casse Déserte, a barren scree zone of weathered rock pinnacles. The pass has been used in the Tour de France 34 times since 1922 and in the Giro d'Italia 7 times, including the 1949 stage where Fausto Coppi distanced Gino Bartali; a small cycling museum and memorials to Coppi and Bobet stand at the summit.
