Col de la Lombarde is a 2,351 m pass on the France-Italy border in the Maritime Alps, above the Isola 2000 ski resort. From the French side it climbs about 21.5 km from the village of Isola with roughly 1,477 m of gain at a 6.9% average, on the M97 (former D97) road. It was first used in the 2008 Tour de France as a Hors Categorie climb on stage 16. The road is paved with many hairpins and is generally open only in summer.
