The Col du Granon is reached by a single paved road, the D234T, climbing about 11.5 km from Saint-Chaffrey in the Guisane valley at an average of roughly 9%. The gradient rarely drops below 8% from foot to summit, with the steepest ramps near the start; gravel military-zone roads continue beyond the pass. It featured in the Tour de France only twice: in 1986, where Greg LeMond took time on Bernard Hinault, and in 2022, where Jonas Vingegaard cracked Tadej Pogacar to seize the yellow jersey.
