The climb

The Gardena Pass is one of the four linked passes of the Sella Ronda, the loop that encircles the Sella massif together with Sella, Pordoi and Campolongo. The Corvara side follows the SS 243 north out of the village in Val Badia, gaining about 600 m in roughly 9 km, with switchbacks and ramps near 10 percent and easier stretches of 6 to 7 percent higher up. The pass has featured in the Giro d'Italia since 1949 and is climbed every year in the Maratona dles Dolomites, where it is the fourth of the event's passes.
