Chamrousse is a ski resort above Grenoble in the Belledonne massif, climbed from Uriage-les-Bains on the D111 — roughly 18 km averaging over 6%, topping out at Roche Béranger (1750 m). It entered Tour de France history with the 2001 mountain time trial from Grenoble, won by Lance Armstrong (a result later struck from the record for doping), and returned in 2014 when Vincenzo Nibali soloed to the stage 13 win in the yellow jersey. The resort hosted alpine events at the 1968 Grenoble Winter Olympics.
