The Col des Saisies is climbed most often from the south, starting on the D925 in the Doron valley near Villard-sur-Doron and Beaufort, where the road to the col branches off at the junction with the D218B. From this foot it runs about 15 km to the summit at the Les Saisies ski resort, gaining roughly 957 m at an average gradient around 6.4%, with the steepest ramps near 11%. The climb is split into two sections by a short descent near the 8 km mark; the lower part winds up through forest, the upper part opens onto pasture before the resort. The pass has featured in the Tour de France and is part of the Route des Grandes Alpes.
