The Nockalmstraße is a tolled scenic road through the Nockberge in Carinthia, running 33 km between Ebene Reichenau and Innerkrems over 52 numbered hairpins (locally called Reidn). It is not a single clean climb: from the Ebene Reichenau side the road first climbs to the Schiestelscharte, drops nearly 500 m, then re-climbs to its high point on a shoulder of the Eisentalhöhe (2049 m). Gradients on the climbing sections sit between 8 and 11 percent, peaking around 12 percent, but the mid-route descent pulls the overall average down. The road is closed in winter and operates as a toll road in the cycling season.
