The Männlichen, the ridge between Grindelwald and Wengen at the heart of the Jungfrau region, is best known for its gondola — but a paved mountain road climbs to it from Grindelwald, and it's a savage one: about 13 km at 8.9% to a road's-end at ~2,058 m, face to face with the Eiger, Mönch and Wetterhorn. No race pedigree; it earns on distinctive difficulty and one of the great summit panoramas in the Alps.
