The Jaunpass (col de Bellegarde in French, 1508 m) crosses the Bernese Alps, linking Reidenbach in the German-speaking Simmental of canton Bern with Jaun and Charmey in French-speaking canton Fribourg. The road over the pass was completed in 1878. The northeast side from Reidenbach is the most-ridden cycling approach: about 8 km at an average 8.3%, a steady climb on good pavement that the Tour de Romandie has used in its mountain stages.
