Col du Grand Colombier (1,501 m) is the high point of the Bugey massif in the Ain, with four paved ascents of very different character. The Tour de France has finished at the summit twice — in 2020 and on Bastille Day in 2023 — both times by the long Culoz side, about 17.4 km at 7.4% with pitches into the double digits and the best views of the four, out over the Rhône and, on a clear day, to Mont Blanc. It has also been used by the Critérium du Dauphiné.
