One of the great hidden climbs of the Alps: a narrow paved road from Fusio, at the head of the Val Lavizzara in Ticino, up to the Naret dams at ~2,310 m. Built for the Maggia hydroelectric scheme, it climbs past the Lago Sambuco reservoir on a rolling middle section, then rears up into sustained ramps of 15–19% to a remote plateau of high alpine lakes under the Basòdino massif. No race has ever finished here — its fame rests entirely on scenery and difficulty. The tarmac frays to a rough track in the final stretch above Campo Sotto.
