The ascent from Romano d'Ezzelino follows the Strada Cadorna, a road built during the First World War, and is the classic and most-ridden way up Monte Grappa. It climbs roughly 26 km at an average of about 5.9%, starting near Piazza Cadorna in the town centre and finishing close to the summit war memorial. The gradient is uneven, with steeper pitches near the bottom and the top broken by a few kilometres of false flat in the middle. The road is kept open year-round, which is unusual for a high mountain that is not a ski resort.
