Passo Falzarego (2105 m) sits on the Great Dolomites Road (SS48) between Cortina d'Ampezzo and Andraz in the province of Belluno. The Cortina side is the classic cycling approach: a steady climb of roughly 16 km at 5.7% up through Pocol, with the bare rock walls of the Lagazuoi and Hexenstein rising at the top. The pass was a front line in World War I, where Italian and Austro-Hungarian troops fought a mine war under the Lagazuoi, and it has featured in the Giro d'Italia several times.
