The Col des Aravis (1487 m) links La Clusaz in Haute-Savoie with La Giettaz in Savoie and is the lowest pass in the Aravis range. The north ascent from Saint-Jean-de-Sixt follows the D909 for about 10.3 km, gaining roughly 640 m at an average around 5.2%, with hairpins through alpine meadows and views toward Mont Blanc. The pass has featured in the Tour de France over 40 times; the chapel of Sainte-Anne stands at the col.
