One of the great Valais reservoir climbs: from Sierre in the Rhône valley up the length of the Val d'Anniviers to the Barrage de Moiry at ~2,250 m. Nearly 29 km of climbing, gentle through the lower gorge but rearing up above the timber-chalet village of Grimentz, where the gradient rarely drops back into single figures. It ends on the crest of the dam, the turquoise Lac de Moiry beneath the Moiry glacier and the peaks of the Val d'Anniviers all around — a bucket-list scenic dead-end, well paved throughout.
